Policy – Weather related closures (2017-2018 School Year)
During the school year (September – May) the parishes will follow the lead of the Park
Rapids School system in determining the cancellation of parish activities during the
week (Monday – Thursday). You may also telephone the parish office to access any
announcements (option 3) regarding cancellation of activities. Notifications will be sent
out on our parish app (smart phone required).
Wednesday Evening Youth Faith Formation & Youth Room
All afternoon and evening activities are cancelled if the school announces
➢ an entire school day has been cancelled;
➢ early dismissal – evening school activities are cancelled
Please note: we are concerned for the safety of those students who drive themselves to church and do not want them driving in the dark in unsafe road conditions
First Reconciliation & First Communion [2nd grade]
Will not meet if the school announces
➢ an entire school day has been cancelled;
➢ early dismissal – evening school activities are cancelled
Faith Formation groups (bible study, RCIA)
➢ If the start of school is delayed, morning sessions will meet as scheduled
➢ If the entire school day is cancelled, morning & evening sessions will not meet
➢ If school is dismissed early, evening sessions will be cancelled
Weekday Mass
➢ St. Peter’s – Mass will be offered at the regular time.
➢ St. Mary’s – Tuesday Mass will be cancelled if school is cancelled or delayed
Weekend Masses
➢ St. Peter’s – normally will not be cancelled.
➢ St. Mary’s – may be cancelled due to road conditions.
Adoration [St. Peter’s]
(Tuesday + Wednesday) If the start of school is delayed or the entire school day has
been cancelled there will be no adoration.
(Thursday) If the start of school is delayed Adoration will begin at noon.
(Thursday evening until 9:00 PM) If the forecast is for treacherous weather during the
night Adoration will be cancelled.
Parish Offices
➢ If school is cancelled the offices will remain closed.
➢ If the start of school is delayed the offices will open at 10:00 AM.
➢ If school has early dismissal the offices may close early due to road conditions.
Please note: prudence and common sense about current driving conditions need to be applied!
